As part of intervention response to the outcry made by sport lovers within and outside Offa local government on the dilapidated state of the stadium , Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has commenced renovation work on the stadium’s pitch and other areas yesterday.
This became necessary after the recent downpour experienced in Offa thereby putting the pitch in an unpleasant state for use.
According to the MOK Foundation team leader Mr Saheed Lawal who visited the site said, they got the notice after a video showing heavy water lodge in the stadium surfaced on social media and as a foundation who is equally making contribution to sport development swung into action immediately visited the site for inspection and commenced work immediately.
Mr Lawal said parts of the effort made were provision of some lawnmower for cutting of grasses, rechanelling the water through piping, replacing blocked water pipes, sand filling, providing water tanks among others.
He added that the aim of the foundation’s intervention is to put the stadium in a proper shape fit for adequate use without hitches and gave the assurances that the work will be completed in record time as all the materials needed have been supplied and the work will be monitored by the Offa sports committee and the MOK team.
It will be recalled that MOK has been making meaningful contributions to security in Offa and its environs by providing solar powered lights to transformers, markets and streets, providing financial and logistics support to security agencies, payment of WAEC fees and hospital bills, providing fund to small scale businesses and indigents among others.
The sports committee who were excited by the intervention commended MOK Foundation for the continuous support given to them at all time and added that this will go a a long way to facilitate the on-going football tournament and more to come.
They described it a boaster to youth and sports development and named MOK an ambassador of development.
