The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has stepped up its efforts in the ongoing renovation of the Offa Stadium, following an urgent appeal from sports enthusiasts in Offa local government area of Kwara State. The move comes as a response to the aftermath of heavy rainfall that left the stadium’s pitch in a deplorable condition.
The MOK Foundation has wasted no time in launching a comprehensive restoration project. Their multifaceted approach includes the provision of lawnmowers for grass cutting, rechanneling water through piping, replacing blocked water pipes, sand filling, and installing water tanks, among various other enhancements.
The primary objective of the initiative is to breathe new life into the Offa Stadium, ensuring it becomes a premier venue for a wide range of sporting events. All essential materials have already been supplied, and the renovation work will be under the close supervision of both the Offa sports committee and the dedicated team from the MOK Foundation.
Mr. Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, the driving force behind the foundation, expressed his commitment to the project during a visit to the stadium on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Represented by Mr. Saheed Lawal, MOK Foundation said, “We are deeply invested in the revitalization of Offa Stadium. Sports play an essential role in our community, and we want to ensure that our athletes and enthusiasts have access to world-class facilities. We’re determined to make this stadium a source of pride for Offa and a hub for sporting excellence.”
The renovation work is already in progress and is expected to be completed in the coming months. The MOK Foundation’s efforts are not only a testament to their dedication to community development but also a significant boost for sports in Offa.
Also, the Foundation has commenced renovation of would-be MOK Stand in the stadium. The agendum is to give it a befitting face-lift and be able to provide shelter for sport enthusiasts during football games in the stadium.
